Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’, has been the capital of erstwhile Jaipur state since its inception in 1727 AD, It was founded by Sawai Jai Singh II, a great ruler as well as renowned mathematician and astrologer. Having proved his prowess as a military tactician for Aurangzeb, he substantially grew the emperor’s royal coffers. Jai Singh felt it safe to move his capital from the claustrophobic hills surrounding Amber to a dry lake in the valley below.

Teej Festival

Kite Festival

Gangaur Festival
This festival is celebrated from March to April. This festival is marked by the worshipping of Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri by carving out beautiful clay idols of Gods and Goddesses. Kajli Teej Festival
The festival begins with the procession of goddess Teej in an ornamented palanquin and included decorated elephants, camels, performers, musicians, and people in colorful attires. Sitla Mata Fair
This spectacular fair is held in the Seel-ki-Doongri village which is almost 5 km away from Chaksu and 35 km from Jaipur. The village has a temple dedicated to the deity Sheetla Mata perched on the top of a small hill that plays host to this fair. Legend has it that it is the rage of Sheetla Mata that leads to epidemics and the fair is held to please the goddess.
